Community colleges lobby to offer four-year degrees

Some community colleges may begin offering bachelors degrees.

State Rep. John Walsh, R-Livonia, has sponsored a bill that would allow community colleges to offer four-year degrees in culinary arts, concrete technology and nursing.

“We hope to have a hearing in the fall,” said Michael Hansen, president of the 28-member Michigan Community College Association.
