The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the increase at its meeting Thursday.
The board also approved increases in apartment and ProfEd tuition rates.

So, let me get this straight…
You’ve got enough money to start a medical school, and the Legislature has enough money for a new “high-tech” building, but you have to raise all costs by at least 6% ’cause CMU needs the money?
Let’s get this straight — the inflation rate is, at tops, half of that. This also follows substantial fee increases in past years. Housing costs should show the effects of a soft housing market and a corresponding softness in housing costs. However, CMU raises fees by 6%?
Sadly, the average 20-something student doesn’t know how much they’re spending ’cause they’re paying with “tomorrow dollars”, which they will pay for 20 years. At this point in their lives, the average undergrad can’t comprehend living another 20 years, let alone paying off this debt for 20 years.
